A woman is beautiful until 1.75. From that point on, it progresses towards being a model. Being 90-60-90 in size is the feature we are looking for. In the model, on the contrary, we want to have as many breasts as possible and no hips. That is why Venezuelan beauties with a height of 1.73, 1.75 generally get degrees in the world finals. The mission of the beautiful is completely different; very special and important missions such as world peace, hunger, education and culture. The task of the model is; To make the presentation of the clothes he carries with a correct technique and to ensure that he receives orders.
Beautiful does not charge any fee for accomplishing her mission, while she does charge for model delivery. While beauty is not a profession, modeling is one of the most important links in the textile sector chain and it is a profession. As you know, Ala-turca means “like a Turk”. We Turks love to copy, transform and transform everything we inspire, influence, and turn it into something unique. So we are quite alaturka 😊 Nowhere in the world is a model participating in a beauty contest. And no beauty walks on the catwalks.
Models in Turkey participate in beauty contests, and those who want to be actors take the shortcut and participate in the modeling contest. While the winners of the beauty contest walk as “the titled beauty” on the podiums, the ones who get the degrees from the modeling contest walk as the “the titled model” in the series. Like a joke… When we look at the Beauty Contests held in Turkey; They choose our young girls of 1.80 – 1.83 – 185 height as Miss Turkey. Most of the participating candidates are professional models anyway. Selected beauties cannot obtain a degree in international competitions because their size is; not the beauty, but the model’s measurements.
Their aim is to be the sought-after model of local podiums with the title of beautiful. They do not have any missions such as world peace, hunger, education, etc. When we look at the modeling competitions; The first place in the categories for men and women is evident from a year ago. In fact, by making strategic (!) Decisions, it can be determined who will get what degrees from 2-3 years ago. For this reason, the Jury Members, each more precious than the other, who have been treated as “guests who have come to sit in the evening” and who are very condemned. In this competition, which turns into a male body beauty contest, female contestants are treated as figurations. The “unwritten conditions” of entering the ranking are different for girls and different for boys.
It is claimed to be the only professional competition. Except for the “Best Catwalk” which is given as an honorable mention, there is no real prize given as a result of a professional evaluation. Almost none of the participating models were technically modeled. It is not considered important… for this reason, “except for a few”, those who are ranked can only walk in TV series instead of podiums. The 3 conditions of being a model: carrying-presenting-radiation have been forgotten, maybe not known at all. The skill and knowledge of removing the jacket, folding it and putting it on again, which is considered to be the “Nirvana” of being a model, is already far from the subject. The contest, which was previously broadcast on National TV Channels, can now find a place in “theme” channels. It is of course very sad on behalf of the sector that a competition that has brought truly magnificent models to the Turkish Fashion World for a long time and shaped the fashion has turned into this.
Carry, Present, Glow
To carry: To have the “proper” physics dimensions demanded by the design and apparel and of course that this is also sustainable. So preserving this form. Presenting: To have the technical presentation knowledge and training that will enable the garment he carries to receive orders. Glow: Presenting with a high-energy mode in order to increase the appeal of the outfit it carries. So the aura … As you can see, a beautiful face is not a sought after feature. What if there is… but what we are looking for is not something we make as a condition. Ferhan Aral Model Academy has been operating since 2009.
Until today, many Best Models who have been ranked among them and many Miss Turkey who have entered the rankings, as well as many sought-after models of the Fashion Week podiums also came out of this academy. With a rough calculation, we are the “only” model school that brought about 150 famous models to the market. Those who want to have an idea about who they are can visit www.ferhanaralcreative.com.
We teach presentation techniques, not walking lessons. A model can also present by walking, standing or sitting. The task of the model is not to walk, but to make a presentation and ensure that the outfit she is carrying takes an order.
We raise models, not models. On the one hand, there is a rehearsal model, a fair model, a lifeless model, on the other hand, there is the modeling profession that takes its roots from concepts such as ideal and idol.
You can think of this distinction as car / automobile separation. Anything with wheels is a car, but not all are cars. There is an expression that is widely used in Turkey: “MODEL IS HANGING” It is meant to say that the model cannot get in the way of clothes, which I would agree with. But… no !! The model is not a hanger.
The model is a very important element that completes the look, where we add its energy, expression, presentation technique and many more features into the look. That’s why castings are done. With a blonde model, the presentation of the look becomes completely different with a dark or red model.
When we look at the story of a collection produced by the designer; If we take into account the production – presentation – order taking – order production – order packing – shipping – customs and similar processes, we come across a total process of approximately one year. In the middle of this is the presentation of the collection. In that presentation, the model is obliged to make Buyer like the outfit it is carrying with a walk that takes about 15 seconds and make it take orders. In other words, the entire investment of the designer directly depends on the 15-second presentation of that model. That is why, in Casting, we do not look at which model is better, more beautiful or handsome, but with which model it takes an order, we look at it all together.
FASHION SHOW PRODUCTIONS
About 100 people work for an average-sized fashion show. 20 models, 10 dressers, 5 + 5 hair & make-up teams, 10 podiums, 10 sound-lights, 10 host & hostess, PR staff, backstage director, assistants, DJ, light operator, supervisor, photographers, video shooting team, cleaning team, security team, valet team etc.
The quality of the fashion show productions we organize in Turkey generally proceeds in line with the vision of the customer and the reflex of minimizing the costs.
In addition to the wages of so many employees, budgets go up when designer decors, finishing materials, special effect display systems, lighting systems and many other materials are added. It is a huge cost for a show that will last 7-10 minutes. Moreover, not to mention the rent of the place …
When you have to work with technical systems that are completely dependent on the dollar exchange rate, unfortunately, every increase in the dollar directly reflects on the quality of the fashion show. People and companies in the fashion show sector are no longer for making money, but often with the mentality of “at least boil our soup”
Leaving a system that has not yet been made to the customer’s imagination is often not enough, despite 3D drawings. In this case, the producers prefer to copy a previous show exactly.
The podium used in Armani’s fashion show was used in 3 different fashion shows in Turkey only by changing its color.
Dolce Gabbana’s Temple of Concordia (Sicily) show has been copied from her hair-make-up, to her choreography and the music used. I do not talk about the resemblance of space.
Copying Dsquared2 shows, from the concept to the decor, together with the music, is also reserved for us Turks.
We are trying to keep the fashion show sector alive in Turkey under these conditions, together with 3-4 colleagues who are my rival and my friend, with whom we organize high segment fashion shows.
